Quality and laboratory results
Both products were tested by an independent laboratory. We publish every value from the reports, including heavy metals — not only the most flattering number.
Agricultural lime — laboratory results
Tested by an independent laboratory (Agrochemical Research Laboratory, Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry). Report No. T 50, 12 May 2017.
| Ca expressed as CaCO₃ | 94.3 % |
|---|---|
| Neutralising value | 49.42 % |
| Reactivity | 72.58 % |
| Calcium (CaO) | 52.88 % |
| Calcium (Ca) | 37.8 % |
| Magnesium (Mg) | 0.89 % |
| Magnesium (MgCO₃) | 3.10 % |
| Moisture | 5.71 % |
Neutralising value shows how much acidity one tonne neutralises; reactivity shows how quickly the material acts in soil. Both matter more than total calcium content.

Crushed limestone — laboratory results
Tested by the same independent laboratory. Report No. K 393, 6 June 2016.
| Ca expressed as CaCO₃ | 94.01 % |
|---|---|
| Calcium (Ca) | 37.65 % |
| Reactivity | 21.16 % |
| Magnesium (Mg) | 0.30 % |
| Mg expressed as MgCO₃ | 1.04 % |
| Silicon (Si) | 2.41 % |
| Moisture | 4.28 % |
Heavy metals
| Cadmium (Cd) | 0.32 mg/kg |
|---|---|
| Lead (Pb) | < 2.5 mg/kg (below detection limit) |
| Chromium (Cr) | 5.50 mg/kg |
| Nickel (Ni) | 4.26 mg/kg |
| Copper (Cu) | 7.8 mg/kg |
| Zinc (Zn) | 2.13 mg/kg |
Low reactivity (21.16 %) means limestone dissolves slowly — so its effect is long-lasting and over-liming is not possible. For comparison, agricultural lime has 72.58 % reactivity.

How to read these figures
Neutralising value
How much acidity one tonne neutralises. This is the real liming power and the basis for rates per hectare — and the fairest way to compare offers when freight is included.
Reactivity
The share of material that reacts in the first year. High reactivity means pH moves this season, not in three years.
Ca expressed as CaCO₃
Total calcium expressed as calcium carbonate equivalent. The most advertised figure, but on its own it says nothing about speed of action.
Moisture
Matters when buying by the tonne: you should not pay to ship water. Lower moisture means more active material per tonne.
